Objective To explore the status of frailty and the related influencing factors among older stroke patients in China.Methods The research team conducted a cross-sectional survey of 240 stroke patients aged 60 years and over.We used a general information questionnaire to investigate all the study subjects.We evaluated frailty status with the Tilburg Frailty Indicator,disability with the modified Rankin Scale and the Barthel Index,social support with the Social Support Rating Scale,and self-perceived burden with the Self-Perceived Burden Scale.We used multivariate logistic regression analysis to investigate the association of physical function(ADL and disability)and psychosocial factors(monthly income,social support,and self-perceived burden)with frailty after adjustment for age,sex,and BMI.Results Of the participants,146(71.6%)reported frailty.Frailty was independently associated with monthly income(OR =4.389,95%CI:1.620-11.889),independence in activities of daily living(OR = 0.048,95%CI:0.007-0.321),low level of social support(OR =12.406,95%CI:2.558-60.158),and low level of self-perceived burden(OR = 0.080,95%CI:0.008-0.804)in older stroke adults from the Chinese community.Conclusion This study shows that older stroke adults are rarely free of frailty.We should shed light on factors associated with frailty among people with stroke.
