Objective To explore the law of prescription and syndrome of Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Tang (黄芪桂枝五物汤,QHGZWWT) in Prof.HUANG Huang's clinical practice and summarize his clinical experience.Methods We collected Prof.HUANG Huang's medical records in which HQGZWWT was used,and carried on statistical analy ses to the main disease systems,symptoms,usual dose of herbs and adding herbs.Results Totally 85 medical records were brought into study.The diseases treated were mainly about nervous system or orthopedics or endocrine and metabolic disorders.The main constitution characteristics were middle-aged or elder patients with dark yellow,or dark red complexion,facial edema,fatness,being easy to sweat,good appetite,soft abdomen,and edema of lower extremity.The main symptoms were fatigue and weakness,copious sweat,easy dizziness or tinnitus or fluster,numbness and pain of the limbs,lumbodorsal sore pain and dark pale or dark red tongue.The pulses usually reflected deficiency,which were mainly weak,stringy or moderate.The usual doses of herbs were:raw Huangqi [Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.) Bge.var.mongholicus (Bge.) Hsiao] 30 g,Gui (Guizhi and Rougui) [Cinnamomum cassia Presl] 15 g,Shaoyao (Chishao and Baishao) [Paeonia lactiflora Pall.] 15 g,Ganjiang [Zingiber officinale Rosc.] 10 g,Dazao [Ziziphus jujuba Mill.] 20 g.The common adding herbs were Gegen [Pueraria lobata (Willd.)Ohwi],Chuanxiong [Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort.] and Huainiuxi [Achyranthes bidentata B1.].The common adding prescriptions were Siwei Jianbu Tang (四味健步汤) and Guizhi Fuling Wan (桂枝茯苓丸).Conclusion The diseases treated by HQGZWWT are mainly nervous systems or orthopedics or endocrine and metabolic disorders.The patients and their families usually have underlying cardio-cerebrovascular diseases or diabetes.And this formula is frequently used in the middle-aged and the elder.
