To explore the clinical efficacy and nursing points of 5a reductase inhibitor combined with_receptor blocker in the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUT) in elderly patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods 162 elderly patients with BPH were selected and divided into different groups, 81 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with 5a reductase inhibitor combined with receptor blocker for 6 weeks. During the treatment, the control group was given routine nursing, while the observation group was given detailed nursing on the basis of the control group nursing. The International Prostate Symptom Score Scale (IPSS) was used to score the patients before and after treatment. The urinary flow rate and residual urine volume of the two groups were recorded. The occurrence of adverse events was counted and the nursing points were summarized. Results IPSS score, maximum urinary flow rate and residual urine volume of the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the degree of IPSS and residual urine volume is higher in the observation group (P<0.05), the incidence of adverse reactions in the control group was 14.08%, significantly higher than that in the observation group as 3.90% (P<0.05). Conclusion 5a reductase inhibitor combined with a receptor blocker is effective in the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms in elderly BPH patients. It is necessary to take corresponding nursing measures in combination with dizziness, headache, psychological quality and living habits during the treatment so as to reduce adverse reactions and improve the curative effect.
