This chapter provides a synopsis of the clinical trial literature on the application of Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) in the management of Alzheimer's disease (AD) with an evaluation of the available evidence. Extensive searches of nine Chinese and English databases identified 110 randomised controlled trials and eight non-randomised controlled clinical trials, for inclusion in the systematic reviews and meta-analyses of the efficacy and safety of these CHMs for AD. In addition, 18 non-controlled studies were identified. These provide an overview of the interventions used and data on the safety of the CHMs.
