Acupuncture therapies for herpes zoster have been evaluated by many clinical studies published in both Chinese and international journals. This chapter provides an assessment of the evidence for acupuncture therapies from clinical studies. A comprehensive search of nine English and Chinese language databases identified more than 36,600 citations. Screening against rigorous inclusion criteria resulted in the selection of 47 clinical studies for further evaluation. Acupuncture, moxibustion, and plum-blossom needle therapy were found to reduce pain and hasten rash healing, and these therapies were also well-tolerated.
