This chapter describes the Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation and treatments recommended in clinical textbooks and guidelines that are most likely to relate to post-herpetic neuralgia. This chapter also describes some of the limitations to conducting searches of the classical Chinese medicine literature. Treatments in contemporary literature focus on syndrome differentiation, and commonly involve syndromes such as qi stagnation and Blood stasis, and Liver yin deficiency.
