Post-herpetic neuralgia has been evaluated in many clinical studies. This chapter describes the methods used to identify and evaluate Chinese medicine therapies for treating post-herpetic neuralgia in clinical studies. Extensive searches of electronic databases were conducted, with results screened against rigorous inclusion criteria. An assessment of the methodological quality of the studies was made using standardised methods. Results from included studies were evaluated to provide an estimate of treatment effects as well as the safety of various Chinese medicine therapies for post-herpetic neuralgia.
