The combination of two or more Chinese medicine therapies is common in clinical practice. Studies were assessed against rigorous inclusion criteria and 33 randomised controlled trials were selected for inclusion. The most common combination of interventions was acupuncture plus plum-blossom needle therapy and cupping. Analysis of results found some combinations of therapy to be beneficial and combination therapies appear to be well-tolerated by people with herpes zoster.
